New Tuam Community Council gets off the ground

A GROUP of 11 is to form the initial Tuam Community Council. The body is being set up to represent the needs of the town in the absence of the Town Council, which was abolished in May.
A meeting in the Corralea Court Hotel on Monday evening was addressed by former town councillors Martin Ward, Sally Ann Flanagan, Imelda Kelly, Tom Reilly and Pat O’Hora.
By the end of the meeting they had been joined by Darren Donoghue, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Michael Waldron of Tuam Tidy Towns, Teresa Kelly, John Mannion and Anna Fahy.
