Ambitious plans mark start of new Tuam Chamber term

AMBITIOUS plans have been laid out by the incoming president of Tuam Chamber of Commerce, including a proposal to change the organisation’s name.
Darren Donohue takes over the chain from Ronan Glynn this evening (Wednesday) and the young barber has big plans for the town over the coming 12 months.
One of the first items on the agenda for the new committee which includes vice president Bernie Naughton (Corralea Court Hotel) treasurer Pedro Ledesma (Pedro’s Grill) and PRO Ollie Burke (Typestyle) is revamping the reputation of the organisation locally.
“We have a lot of ideas and campaigns to promote Tuam and get the town working together instead of different groups pulling in different directions,” said Darren, who owns Darren’s barber shop on Chapel Lane in the town.
“We’re looking at a rebranding of the organisation, even so far as considering changing the name as people perceive it to be old and stuffy and we want to turn that around.
