Minors toppled the Kingdom

FRESH from halting Kerry's dominance, the Galway minor footballers will now set their sights on ending the county's 12-year wait for an All-Ireland title at the grade on Sunday, September 1.
Since 2014, the Kingdom had been masters of all they surveyed at U-18 and U-17 level but Galway's 0-14 to 0-13 semi-final victory at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon paves the way for a final against more Munster opposition in Cork. The Rebels were 4-12 to 1-13 victors in their semi-final with Mayo.
Speaking afterwards, Galway manager Dónal Ó Fátharta praised his side, while also recognising that a slice of fortune fell their way after Kerry kicked 13 wides in defeat.
"We’re delighted," said Ó Fátharta. "The guys all year have shown a lot of resilience in games. We were a little bit lucky as well. Kerry missed chances there towards the end. But the resilience they showed, especially after the blitz at the start of the second half. It was two or three minutes before I gathered my own thoughts, so I could imagine how the players felt.”
