Greenway study comes a cropper as Co Council rules out funding

TUAM’S greenway campaign suffered a setback this week when council officials ruled out a feasibility study into the development due to funding constraints.
The matter generated heated debate at this week’s meeting of Galway County Council where members were accused of sticking their heads in the sand, over their refusal to support the plan.
Cllr Shaun Cunniffe tabled a motion to approve carrying out the feasibility study along the old railway track between Tuam and Athenry. He was told by executives that funding wasn’t available to support such a study.
