Galway success as Tuam hosts National Cross Country events

THE Irish Life Health National Intermediate Cross Country Championships and Juvenile Cross Country Relays, hosted by Tuam AC and Galway City Harriers in conjunction with Athletics Ireland, took place in glorious weather at the Palace Grounds in Tuam on Sunday, with large crowds turning out to witness an exciting day of action.
Galway City Harriers’ girls squads took pride of place in very competitive and exciting Juvenile Inter Club Relays, with gold for the U-14 team and bronze for the U-12s. The U-14 team of Gillian McGrath, Ciara Dunne, Eimear Rowe and Emma Moore produced a great display of team running, with anchor leg Moore finishing with an incredible run to move from third to first in the last 500m leg. The GCH U-12 girls team of Ava Mckeon, Isabella Burke, Leana Nic Dhonncha and Aoibhe Joyce secured a superb bronze in their event behind winners Ratoath and second placed St Cronan’s.
