Corofin 3-14

Mountbellew-Moylough 0-10
IF any further proof was needed of the challenge facing the contenders in this year’s Galway Senior Championship, reigning champions Corofin provided it with an emphatic, free-scoring win over Mountbellew-Moylough at Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening.
League form comes with its usual health warnings, yet Corofin’s average return of over 26 points in Division 1 outings suggested Mountbellew-Moylough were in for a tough evening. That’s what eventually transpired although the margin of victory was still rough justice on a Mountbellew-Moylough team who put in a more than decent display and were only four points adrift early in the second half.
They were unable to maintain those levels however, as Corofin upped the ante and outscored Val Daly’s men by 1-7 to 0-1 over the final 20 minutes to win pulling away.
