Tuam Rugby Club gets ready to roll!
A PLETHORA of rugby balls will be released from a tipper truck at the top of the hill on Tullinadaly Road on Sunday for a Tuam RFC fundraiser.
The aim of the game for the ‘What a Load of Balls’ fundraiser is for your rugby ball to reach the bottom of the Tuam hill first. After that, pigeon holes will decide the cash prizes that the first balls down the hill will receive. Each rugby ball will have a name and a number with it.
The tipper truck will unload the rugby balls at 3pm, and Tullinadaly Road will be closed from 11am to 5pm on Sunday for the event.
There is a total prize fund of €2,500 and seven prizes on offer for the fundraiser, which is being done to raise monies for Tuam RFC’s underage structure and the weekly costs involved with running a rugby club. The event will be catered for people of all ages, with refreshments, face painting, musical entertainment and other activities taking place in the area.
“We'd like to thank everyone who has purchased a ball, sold them or supported this event in anyway,” said Seán Higgins, Fundraising Chairman for Tuam RFC.
“Every cent is going towards the running and future of our club. We understand things are very expensive at the minute, so we really do appreciate the efforts of everyone who has gotten behind this event." Balls cost €10 and are available through the Tuam RFC website, their Facebook and Instagram pages, from committee and club members, as well as in different businesses in Tuam.
