Nathan walks on faith here and in New York
American Country singer-songwriter Mike Reid penned hits in the 1980s and early ‘90s for Willie Nelson, Don Williams, The Judds, Lorrie Morgan, and Conway Twitty but his only solo number one in the US was Walk on Faith now covered by Nathen Carter as his new single.
The track sees Nathan putting his own stamp on a song originally co-written by the aforementioned Mike Reid with another Nashville songsmith Allen Shamblin.
Nathan says that this song seemed a natural fit for his style of singing as well as fitting in with the lively sound of his band.
“I wanted to do something with a big bit of energy and Walk On Faith just fitted the arrangement perfectly. It’s a great song, and we’ve given it a bigger sound that feels like the natural next step for me.”
New Album
It was produced by Jonathan Owens at Spout Studios in Longford and Walk On Faith will be on Nathan’s new album due out in the coming months. Apart from Walk On Faith and another song, he has written all the other tracks.
“The plan was to have the album out in the shops and on the websites here as soon as possible. But we’ve been so busy that it might not be released now until we come back from a short tour in the States and Canada later this month.
"Among those is a gig in New York’s Carnegie Hall which is very exciting,” says Nathan, who plays at that prestigious venue on Saturday October 31st.
Touring Schedule
He added that after they come back, they will do their now annual tour of venues in Scotland including playing their biggest ever gig at The SEC Glasgow on November 27th. His biggest concert in Ireland before Christmas will be in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on Dec 10th.
In the New Year he will be going over to England again for much of February and March including being on home turf at The Philharmonic Hall in his hometown of Liverpool on March 6th.
Earlier this year Nathan augmented his band line-up with a new brass section for the major gigs.
“We’ve added to our band line-up, a trombone and trumpet player for some of the bigger festivals and concerts here and overseas. That gives us three brass players as John Bernie also plays sax and they are a great addition to our live sound,” says Nathan.
