Cortoon woman paces the floor in Vietnamese quarantine

BEING rounded up by authorities in a foreign country and placed into quarantine resembles a plot from a Hollywood movie, but that’s the reality facing a Cortoon woman in Vietnam at present.
Over a year ago, Katie Burke (26), daughter of Bernie and Michael, quit her job and joined her friend, Sara O’Donnell from Castlebar, in Ho Chi Minh City for what was to be the experience of a lifetime.
Katie was “absolutely loving life” teaching English and maths in the south Vietnam city and making the most of the opportunities for further travel afforded to her.
But after Chinese New Year (January 25), the Covid-19 crisis transformed into a full-scale pandemic.
