Tuam stay senior

KILCONLY’s seven-year stay at the top level of Galway football came to an end after the round-robin phase in the Senior Championship relegation playoffs concluded on Sunday lunchtime.
Goals in either half from the Boyles, Martin and Alan, were the decisive scores as Cortoon Shamrocks overcame Pete Warren’s charges by 2-9 to 0-11 at Cregg.
The fate of Cortoon, Kilconly and Naomh Anna Leitir Móir was wrapped up in the final fixture of the three-team Group A. Leitir Mór’s win over Kilconly a week earlier left the south Connemara club safe from automatic relegation with three points from a possible four, and it was a straight shootout between Kilconly and Cortoon, who drew with Leitir Mór in round one, to decide who finished bottom and made the drop.
