Historical Summer School suggested for Kilconly

AT the unveiling of a memorial to Fenian Dr Mark Ryan and his parents in their native Kilconly last weekend it was suggested that an annual Dr Ryan Summer School, similar to the MacGill Summer School that has been operating in Glenties, Donegal for the last 38 years, should be considered for Kilconly.
The suggestion was made by a former Chairman of Galway County Council, Frank Glynn from Milltown. Mr Glynn was one of the speakers at the event in honour of Kilconly-native Dr Mark Ryan who was not alone an important Fenian but also a big influence on Irish activities in the revolutionary, cultural, language and the GAA fields from Fenian times, up to an including the 1916 rebellion and beyond, until his death in 1940 at the age of 96.
