Tuam gets Greenway for a day

CAMPAIGNERS hoping to secure council support for a feasibility study into the development of a greenway in Tuam have collected almost 1,500 signatures from the public over the past two weeks.

The group is hoping to persuade a majority of Galway County Council members to support a motion by Tuam councillor Shaun Cunniffe to secure funding for a feasibility study into the proposed amenity.
Committee member Alan McGrath says the weekend walk along the town’s new bypass, in aid of Tuam Cancer Care, had shown the appetite for a safe walking amenity in the town.

Plans are progressing for a special event next month that would give the public a taster of what they could expect if a greenway was developed along the railway line between Tuam and Ballyglunin.
