Gardaí queuing up to return to their Galway roots

PLANS are in train to have Gardaí living in some of Galway’s rural communities again. Chief Supt Tom Curley hopes to see Garda accommodation in both Corofin and Loughgeorge refurbished in the near future and Gardaí living there once again.
He told a meeting of the County Joint Policing Committee (JPC) this week that it was a sign of the times that Gardaí were now queuing up to be stationed in areas where accommodation came with the posting.

The Chief Supt also said there was a list of experienced Gardaí with at least seven to ten years’ service in other parts of the country awaiting posting back to the West, returning to their roots as he referred to it, and this would be a bonus when replacing retiring members in the coming years.
