Can Corofin be stopped?

THE 2016 Galway Senior Football Championship gets underway this weekend with 20 of the 21 clubs getting their first taste of action. The new season brings with it fresh hope and while defeat on Saturday or Sunday won’t be fatal, it would crank up the pressure as beaten sides enter 'last chance saloon’ in a fortnight  — a stage of the competition where several high-profile clubs come acropper last year. Against that backdrop, everyone will be intent on putting their best foot forward on one of the most eagerly-awaited few days on the local calendar.
Needless to say, Corofin remain the team to beat and it’s hard to look past them. The Championship has become their world with every other club just living in it, and a glance at the record books highlights the task which awaits the challengers.
