Up to 40 new houses for Gilmartin Road with €7.8m funding windfall

A MAJOR redevelopment scheme for Tuam’s Gilmartin Road has been given the green light, following a funding allocation of €7.8m by the Department of the Environment.
The area is set to undergo extensive works with up to 40 new houses being built alongside the renovation and demolition of older properties.
The announcement was made by Environment Minister Alan Kelly on Tuesday, where he outlined the plan that will see 66 housing units provided in total.
Director of Housing with Galway County Council Peter Gavican said the redevelopment scheme would proceed alongside reforms being made to tenancy arrangements and estate management in Gilmartin Road.
