First bridge opens on new Motorway

THE first major bridge on the new Tuam-Gort Motorway has opened to the public at Ballinphuil, Corofin.
According to Padraic McCarthy, Project Manager with Roadbridge, the next overbridge will also open in Corofin some time in the Spring.
Work on the major roads project stopped for the Christmas holidays but those involved will be back on site on January 4. However, despite great progress vehicles won’t be on the new motorway until 2018.
While there is a possibility that the Tuam Bypass may be open earlier, that will depend on a number of other aspects falling into place regarding the overall project.
