O’Donovan penalty decisive as Corofin hold off Williamstown

IT TOOK almost two and a half hours of football to separate them but in the end a converted penalty from Colm O’Donovan after 13 minutes was the key moment as Corofin withstood a second half rally from Williamstown to take Saturday afternoon’s Division 4 League final.
Extra-time failed to produce a winner at Tuam Stadium a fortnight earlier and with pitches in short supply, Williamstown won the toss to host this replay.
They burst into life and had Corofin on the back foot for most of the second half but a return of just one point into the wind in the first was ultimately their undoing.
