No cap pot of gold for farmers says galway ifa

THE row over the publication of details over €1.8 billion in EU CAP payments to 130,000 Irish farmers rumbles on, with calls for security measures to be put in place to prevent criminals using the lists to target individual farmers.
Farmers throughout Co Galway received the second highest allocation in the country with €133 million shared out between them last year. Of this, €80 million is accounted for in single farm payments. Cork is the top recipient with farmers there receiving €215 million in pay-outs.
In the Municipal District of Tuam the largest payment listed on the Department’s website to an individual farmer is €9,783. This included €2,066 for environmental improvement; €7,454 single farm payment and €262 in direct aid.
