Newspaper appoints first female editor

THE Tuam Herald has appointed a new Editor to succeed Stephen Glennon, who is leaving to pursue a career outside of journalism.

She is Siobhán Holliman, current Deputy Editor of the paper and an experienced journalist, who has been working in the regional media sector for over 25 years.

Founded in 1837, The Tuam Herald is one of Ireland’s oldest independently-owned regional newspapers and Siobhán is the first female Editor in the paper’s 187-year history.

A native of Cortoon, Tuam, Siobhán began her journalism career in local radio in Mayo and Galway. She joined The Tuam Herald in 2003 as a Senior Journalist and was appointed Deputy Editor in 2013.

Throughout her career, she has won and been shortlisted for several national journalism awards, particularly in the area of health.
