Epic u21 final at tuam stadium

IT was a weekend of contrasting emotions for Galway’s footballers at Tuam Stadium.
The famous old ground was alive on Saturday evening for a thrilling Connacht U-21 final with Roscommon. An official attendance of 4,796 paid in to watch a trully absorbing game of end-to-end football in which the standard reached extraordinary heights, particularly during a breathless first half.
In the end, Galway’s best wasn’t enough. Damien Comer’s 10th minute strike gave them the perfect start but with the outcome still in the balance midway through the second half, Roscommon came up with the game-breaking goals through Diarmuid Murtagh and Paul Kenny which tilted matters their way in a 3-14 to 3-11 victory.
