Roundfort gears up for annual show

ROUNDFORT Agricultual Show takes place this year on Sunday June 9, with a wide-ranging programme of events and a large number of entries again expected this year. The committee is busy preparing for this always popular show, with the help and continuing support of volunteers and sponsors. Events on the day include the dog show, which always attracts a large number of entries and provides much afternoon entertainment. There will be classes for pedigree and commercial cattle and sheep and a number of qualifier classes for national championships. A special feature in this section is the All-Ireland Heifer Championship, with very high-quality entries from various parts of the country and a raffle for a continental heifer taking place on the show grounds.[private] The pony section will have showing classes for Connemara and non-registered ponies (the show is affiliated to the Irish Pony Society) and a number of riding classes for show ponies and show hunter ponies will also be held. There will also be showing classes for horses and national championship qualifier classes for Irish draught horses and other sport horses. Indoors, there will be baking, flower, home and garden produce and arts and crafts competitions and a mini trade fair will again be held in the community centre, with a variety of stalls providing a wide range of products. All involved are looking forward with great anticipation to another successful show, with everyone invited to enjoy a great day. The show will be opened by Marian Harkin MEP at 3pm. [/private]
