Train for the motorway cycle

ARE you an occasional pedaller? Do you fancy taking that once-in-a-lifetime chance to cycle on the M17 motorway on September 10? Are you afraid it might be too much for you?

Well, no, it is not too much for you. If you have moderate fitness, and a bike in good condition, that is all you need to be able to cycle from Tuam to Athenry and back, or even to Tuam and Gort and back.
The conditions will be as good as they ever can be for a cycle. The road will be as smooth as a billiard table, there will be no traffic, no crossroads or stop signs, and you will have lots of fellow cyclists to encourage you.
Tuam Cycling Club organises bike runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening, starting at 6.30 from Sharkey's Spar on Bishop Street.
The riders are divided into groups, including a beginners' group that takes a gentle pace as required for new cyclists.
