Gritty minors overcome Cats

THE MICHAEL Cusacks club is an amalgamation of the parishes of Beagh and Kilbeacanty at underage level, and it was one of the club's products Enda Fahy who proved to be the match winner for a Galway minor team now aiming to complete the first of a potentially historic All-Ireland double on September 3 against either Cork or Dublin.

Galway had missed chances prior to that vital winning point in the helter skelter nature of the final minutes, but Fahy had the cool head to slot the sliotar between the posts. The substitutions that manager Jeffrey Lynskey signalled for made the difference, as before Fahy, Cappataggle's livewire forward Donal Mannion had hit the point that brought Galway and Kilkenny level again, and won a penalty earlier in the half.
