Mountbellew grab League silverware

M-M 0-10
Annaghdown 0-7
SOME end of season silverware as well as a long overdue Division 1 title were the prizes on offer for Corofin's two closest challengers in their pre-Christmas league final, and it was Mountbellew-Moylough who went away with a fully deserved win over Annaghdown following a low-scoring arm-wrestle.
Three points was the difference at the finish and, in truth, a greater margin of victory would not have flattered Michael Donnellan's team. They were the more accomplished throughout and shrugged aside a wasteful opening half to take enough of their chances, while their tactic of flooding their defence and hitting a below-par Annaghdown on the break also paid dividends.
Annaghdown's chances were dealt a double blow before the off. Their two best players, Damien Comer and Eoghan Kerin, started on the bench and didn't enter the fray until the second half. By then, Mountbellew-Moylough were in firm control and in no mood to let it go.
