Kilbannon road widening project moves closer

A MAJOR realignment project that will make one of Tuam’s busiest approach roads safer moved a step closer this week with members of the Municipal District Council approving a planning report on the scheme.
The Kilbannon Road Improvement Scheme will see 1.2km of the road widened with a cycle and walkway installed to improve safety for residents of the area, who have lobbied for the scheme since the opening of the M17 motorway in 2017.
At a meeting of Tuam MDC this week, area engineer John Coyle confirmed that the project was due to go to construction in September.
