Christmas appeal to combat hygiene poverty

A CHARITY providing hygiene and personal care products to those in need, aims to distribute 400 bags to support 3,500 people in Galway this Christmas.

Hygiene Hub is urging members of the public to support individuals and families in need this winter through their annual #ItsInTheBag Christmas appeal.

The campaign calls on individuals, workplaces, schools and community groups to donate essential and luxury hygiene items – such as shampoo, shower gel, deodorant and gift sets, at one of its drop-off points.

Since the establishment of the Galway Hub in 2020, the charity has distributed 13,848kg of hygiene products across the county. It aims to alleviate the pressure of hygiene poverty felt by many facing financial struggles.

People can also support the campaign by organising a hygiene drive themselves or making a monetary donation.

Donations will be collected from Monday, November 16 to Monday, December 14.
