Cocaine seizure in Tuam

Two arrested

GARDAI have arrested two men following a seizure of over €180,000 worth of cocaine in Tuam.

As part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the area, Gardaí in Co Galway searched two locations in Tuam and seized a total of €183,000 worth of suspected cocaine today (Monday, September 21).

The Divisional Drugs Unit, along with local Drugs Units, the Armed Support Unit and two Dog Units, searched the two locations.

They seized the suspected cocaine, a sum of cash and a quantity of cannabis.

Two men (aged in their 20s and 30s) were arrested and are currently being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The suspected cocaine and cannabis will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
