Agricultural Output Price up 2.3%, CSO finds
The Agricultural Output Price Index was up 2.3% in July 2026, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
For July 2026, the Agricultural Output Price Index was 12.3% lower than the same month in 2025. The input price for July was 6.2% higher when compared to the same month in 2025.
The CSO say that the rise in output prices for July 2026 was due to increases in the prices for cattle, which rose by 4.3% and crop outputs, which rose by 6.5%.
Terms of trade rose by 2.9% from June to July, but when compared with July 2025, it fell by 17.5%.
Cian O'Riordan, Statistician in the Agriculture Division, said: "The Agricultural Output Price Index for July 2026 fell by 12.3% when compared with July 2025. Milk (-21.8%) and Cattle (-9.7%) in July 2026 were lower compared with July 2025, while there were increases in the prices for Eggs (+12.6%) and Sheep (+9.2%) over the same period.
Output prices in July 2026 rose by 2.3% when compared with June 2026, driven by a rise in the prices for Crop Outputs (+6.5%) and Cattle (+4.3%).
“The Agricultural Input Price Index for July 2026 was 6.2% higher than in July 2025, where prices for Fertilisers (+20.2%) and Motor Fuels (+13.5%) rose when compared with July 2025. The Input Prices index in July 2026 saw a minor decrease when compared with June 2026 (-0.6%).”
