Fundraiser to support family carers

FAMILY carers Ireland is urging the people of Galway to support its annual Heart of Gold campaign.

Running through the National Carers Week from Monday, June 8 to Sunday, June 14, the Heart of Gold Day will take place tomorrow Thursday, June 11.

There are almost 33,600 family carers in Galway, supporting people they love and care about, including those living with illness, disability, additional needs, mental health challenges or addiction.

This essential care helps people remain at home, feeling safe, comfortable and surrounded by the people who know them best.

Funds raised through the campaign will help Family Carers Ireland provide practical, direct support to family carers across Ireland.

This includes the National Freephone Careline, counselling, emergency respite, training, support groups, information and advocacy, and local support through Family Carers Ireland’s Carer Support Centres.

These supports help carers access advice, navigate services, connect with others and get support at moments when they may feel overwhelmed or alone.
