Corofin musician presents new Bluegrass series on TG4

A COROFIN musician is hosting a new show on TG4 exploring the thriving world of Bluegrass music in Ireland.

Blas Bluegrass will air the first of four episodes this Sunday June 7 at 9:30pm. It will be hosted by Enda Scahill, a well-known banjo, Mandolin and tenor guitar player.

The show examines how American Old Time and Bluegrass continue to evolve across the country, connecting with Irish traditional and folk music.

Expect vibrant live performances, intimate jam sessions and personal stories.

Enda is the founder of popular group We Banjo 3 and has produced three Irish Times Album of the Year albums with The Dark Well, We Banjo 3, and Paul Brock.

For decades, Irish audiences have embraced cross-cultural musical collaborations, often without fully realising the deep historical and cultural ties that underpin these traditions.

Across the series, Enda will meet the musicians carrying these traditions forward while forging new sounds, rhythms and creative connections between Irish artists and their counterparts in the United States.

Featuring interviews and musical “postcards” from Irish musicians who have been keeping the Bluegrass and Old-Time traditions alive, Blas Bluegrass captures the shared spirit, storytelling and musical kinship that continue to unite these genres across generations and geographies.
