New software and tech degree at ATU Galway

A TERTIARY Degree Programme in Software and Technology has been launched by Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Galway.

The programme launched in partnership with Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB), aims to meet current industry demand for software and technology graduates.

Learners in the BSc (Hons) in Software and Technology programme will spend one year in the ETB setting and the rest three years at ATU Galway.

The programme bridges the gap between traditional computer science and engineering disciplines to address the growing need for professionals who understand both software development principles and control systems integration.

It prepares learners for both employment and entrepreneurial ventures in the growing field of integrated software-hardware systems.

“This programme is designed to produce graduates who can design, develop, and maintain integrated systems that combine software development with sensor technology, instrumentation, and calibration,” said Gareth Roe, Head of Department of Computer Science and Applied Physics at ATU.
