Finding medieval magic in writing
Writer from Dunmore
A young writer from Dunmore is hoping to add more stories to Shakespeare’s Hamlet universe from new perspectives.
Yves Donlon is a 26-year-old archaeologist and writer who has already published two novels written as the prequel of Hamlet.
Currently living in North Yorkshire, England, Yves is researching the medieval pilgrims as part of their PhD programme at the University of York.
Alongside the PhD, they are also writing another fantasy novel set in the medieval fantasy world. It also explores the relationship between Ireland and England, a bit of colonialism along with Irish mythology.
“Fantasy has always been something I have been drawn to and started writing when I was in the final year of school. It became more serious when I started studying English for undergrad studies,” said Yves.
