EC launches "kids corner" website
THE EUROPEAN Commission has launched a new website called 'kids corner' which is dedicated to children and young people. The site explains, in language that's easy for children to understand, how the European Union came about and how it works, and includes information about children's rights (such as the rights of EU teenage workers) and EU emergency numbers for children in danger. [private] The information section is designed for two different age groups. It also includes games and quizzes where children can learn interesting facts and figures about the EU, its history and its countries through 22 EU languages, in a fun and accessible way. 'Kids corner' links up with the existing website ('teachers corner'), which helps teachers to explain how the EU was founded and how it functions, and it's hoped that since decisions taken at a European level have such a direct influence on the lives of all Europeans â€â€ young and old â€â€ it will help EU citizens, from a young age, gain a better understanding of how the EU works.
