Fury in Tuam as residents get parking fines
PARKING fines issued to residents who have valid permits for on street parking in Tuam have led to calls for a more common sense approach by Galway County Council to traffic management in the town.
Three residents have been issued fines in recent weeks, despite all three having valid resident parking permits for their vehicles. One lady was issued a fine hours after pointing the permit out to two community wardens who queried why she was not displaying a parking ticket.
Marion Sheridan, who lives over her and her husband’s Cellar Bar on Shop Street, was challenged by the community wardens last Tuesday morning. She pointed out the permit on the dash of the car and when she returned to it some hours later, she discovered a parking fine had been issued.
