'Walk away' from Tuam Regional Sludge Hub plan

IRISH Water have been told to abandon their plans to locate a Regional Sludge Hub in Tuam and simply walk away from the idea.
Junior Minister Sean Canney told Irish Water at a meeting in the Tuam Wastewater Treatment Plant on Friday that Tuam didn’t need or want extra sludge coming to the town and he says Irish Water should look at real alternatives to regional centres.
Some 60 people attended a public meeting in Tuam last week organized by members of Tuam Municipal District Council. Irish Water has confirmed that the Tuam wastewater plant is one of two plants it has shortlisted as suitable sites. The other option is Sligo.
