Olivia is a world class powerlifter

THERE can’t be many young women who break four World Records in a new sport that they only took up less than ten months ago.
Lifting weights at the gym take on a new meaning when placed into the world of 21-year-old Olivia Lane from Laraghmore in Turloughmore who has recently become a world record holder in the increasingly popular sport of powerlifting.
The fitness enthusiast decided to try out powerlifting after she found herself a bit bored with her usual training routine in the gym.
Powerlifting might conjur up images of the greasy and bottle bronzed body builders who pulse and flex their unsightly muscles in neon swimwear at televised competitions.
Thankfully, Olivia’s appearance and demeanour is far removed from the hyped-up body building world — although she does laugh when I mention it, obviously it’s a comparison that has come up before.
