County football & hurling fixture predictions
WHILE uncertainty continues to surround the position of Galway Senior hurling manager Anthony Cunningham with an independent mediator brought in by Galway GAA officials in an effort to find a resolution, the draws for the 2016 provincial football and hurling Championships have thrown up some interesting ties in both codes.
Galway’s opponents in next year’s Leinster SHC quarter-final will be the eventual winner of the qualifier group involving Offaly, Westmeath, Carlow and last year’s Christy Ring Cup winners Kerry.
Whoever emerges from that tie will go forward to face Laois or the runners-up from the qualifier group. Dublin and Wexford meet on the opposite side of the draw with a semi-final against reigning Leinster and All-Ireland champions Kilkenny at stake for the winner.
In football, Galway are likely to be one the last counties to taste Championship action next summer as they await Mayo or London at the Connacht SFC semi-final stage.
