Leo’s pallet pool keeps Olympics in his sights

TUAM’S aspiring Olympian Leo Hynes has built a pallet pool in his front garden to get around the restrictions imposed by Covid 19 that have been seriously hampering his training routine.
Leo (48) from Palace Fields is visually impaired, having been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in 2009. A keen athlete prior to his diagnosis, he took up triathlons in 2015 and last year won a gold medal at the Pontevedra ITU Aquathlon World Championships in Spain.
