Local Tidy Towns groups get funding boost
TIDY TOWNS groups across Galway are set to benefit from €71,000 in government funding.
Tuam Tidy Towns has been awarded €3,000, while Headford, Athenry and Claregalway have been allocated €2,000.
Abbeyknockmoy, Ballygar, Ballymoe, Barnaderg/Killererin, Caltra, Castleblakeney, Corofin, Creggs, Dunmore, Glinsk, Kilkerrin, Milltown, Monivea, Mountbellew, Moylough, Newbridge and Williamstown will all receive €1,000 in funding.
“Tidy Towns volunteers do tremendous work in our towns and villages, giving their time throughout the year to make their communities better places to live, work and visit,” stated Junior Minister for Transport and Galway East TD Sean Canney.
“I see that commitment first-hand right across Galway. These groups take enormous pride in their communities, and the work they do, from maintaining public spaces and planting flowers to protecting biodiversity, makes a real difference.
“I want to thank all the volunteers for their dedication and for the contribution they make to their communities.”
Since 2017, over €14 million in funding has been given to Tidy Towns groups nationwide.
