She also acknowledged the MCS committee, who work tirelessly throughout the year, particularly in the lead-up to the annual production, organising fundraising events and managing the many responsibilities behind the scenes.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim is set in Victorian London and follows Benjamin Barker, known as Sweeney Todd, played by Stephen Rabbette, who returns to Fleet Street after years of wrongful imprisonment, determined to seek revenge on those who destroyed his life.
Reunited with the eccentric Mrs Lovett, played by Jay Origan, Todd establishes a barber shop on Fleet Street, where his quest for revenge takes a dark and deadly turn. Filled with haunting music, dark humour, drama and unforgettable characters, Sweeney Todd promises to bring audiences on a thrilling journey from beginning to end.
The production features a talented cast of existing and new MCS members who have been working hard in preparation for the show, with rehearsals well underway.
The show will run for five nights from Tuesday 27th October to Saturday 31st October in St. Jarlath’s College, Tuam. Tickets are available online at www.marianchoraltuam.com.
