Works underway at Killaclogher Bridge in Monivea

Restoration works have started at Monivea bridge

Restoration works have begun on the Killaclogher Bridge in the R339 at Monivea and are expected to be complete in the coming weeks.

Local Cllr Sean Broderick has described the project as a significant step forward in addressing a long-standing local concern.

“This has been a long-standing issue for the local community and one which I have been engaging on extensively with local groups and Galway County Council officials," said Cllr Broderick.

He commended the local authority for taking action on the issue, stating that these restoration works will help to relieve surface water flooding at this location, which has caused difficulty for residents and road users over a number of years.

“The project demonstrates the value of constructive engagement between local communities, elected representatives and council officials,” added Cllr Broderick.

He appreciated the commitment shown by Galway County Council in progressing the works and responding to the concerns raised locally.

“By working together, we have been able to achieve a practical solution that will benefit the wider area."
