Europe Day celebrated at school in Dunmore

PUPILS of Gortnaleam National School in Dunmore celebrated Europe Day with various Europe-themed activities and learnings.

Marked on May 9, Europe Day commemorates the Schuman Declaration 1950, a moment that helped launch the European project and laid the foundations for today’s European Union.

Pupils across Co Galway celebrated the day by taking part in classroom activities that explore Europe, the European Union and the importance of working together across countries.

As part of a coordinated programme, staff from the Northern & Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) visited participating schools in the run-up to Europe Day to hear what pupils learned and to discuss the EU and the role of the regional Assembly. Each participating school received an EU flag along with a €250 book voucher.
