Corofin family business marks a major milestone
Celebrating 175 years in business
A COROFIN pub and shop spanning several generations of the same family will be celebrated this weekend.
Raftery’s Pub in Corofin village is one of the oldest pubs to be kept in the same family name in the county. John Raftery runs the pub along with his children Gillian and Brian.
John can trace his family lineage with the building back to 1850, when his great-great grandfather Patrick Raftery ran a pub and general merchants store in the centre of Corofin village. An old shop had been originally in the building in the 1840s.
