Flowering of River Walk enhancement in Dunmore

STUDENTS from Dunmore Community School last week were involved in a community initiative that is bringing renewed life into the River Walk in the town.

Daffodils, bluebells, snowdrops and other spring flowers were planted on the Dunmore River Walk last Wednesday morning. It was the latest in a list of works that have been carried out at the location in recent months, all part of the Dunmore River Walk enhancement project, by the Dunmore RSS Scheme, Galway County Council, and members of the Dunmore Tidy Town Committee.

The River Walk runs alongside the Sinking River in Dunmore, beside Howley’s Eurospar, past the rugby and soccer pitches, and up to the Barrack Square housing estate.

The County Council invited submissions from members of the public earlier this year on the enhancement project for the River Walk, and since June, stone flower beds, flower planting, tree planting and fencing have taken place in the area.
