YOUR TIDY TOWN IN FOCUS
Village is a recent newcomer to the Tidy Towns initiative
YOU don't have to have been born in a parish to be proud of it. This rings true when it comes to the volunteers who make up Tidy Towns groups which many newcomers to an area are finding them a way to become more involved in their community and meet new friends.
When The Tuam Herald visited Corofin Tidy Towns group during their weekly meetup one misty Wednesday evening, just one of the eight people who were busy decking out the bridge with fresh flower baskets had grown up in the parish.
“Only three people involved grew up here, the rest of our ten-person team come from all over place,” explained Anita Mannion, Corofin Tidy Town’s Chairperson, who grew up in the Garda barracks which has become the HQ for the group.
