Finding funds main hurdle to new Tuam Community Centre

A NUMBER of potential funding streams are being examined for the redevelopment of the Tuam Scout Hall building and surrounding site as a new community centre.

The Scout Hall building on the Old Road in Tuam is owned by Galway County Council. John Coyle, a Senior Executive Engineer in the County Council’s Tuam Area Office, told The Tuam Herald that the local authority intends to apply to the Department of Rural and Community Development for funding to develop the site as a multi-purpose facility for the town.
