A man ahead of his time

The late Patsy Conway laid to rest

THE community of Corofin is indebted to Patsy Conway, a man who was held with high esteem and great affection.

Those were the words of Fr Ciarán Blake on Monday at the funeral Mass of Patsy, who passed away at University Hospital Galway last Friday.

Large crowds turned out to say their heartfelt goodbyes to Patsy, a dear friend of many and especially of The Tuam Herald.

He was “an integral part of the community” and his “immeasurable loss will be keenly felt by all”, remarked Fr Blake. He hoped the great affection that people had for Patsy would be a source of comfort and pride for his grieving family and friends.

Patsy’s kind nature, quick wit and boundless drive and energy was admired and appreciated by the countless people and organisations he was involved with over his life.

From being Mr Rose to teen disco organiser – he had a remarkable way of connecting with others.

At his funeral Mass in St Colman’s Church in Corofin on Monday, relatives brought symbols of his life to the altar – a copy of The Tuam Herald, a camera and a rose…
