Tuam native is on target to reach €100,000 fundraising mark

HUNDREDS of friends and well-wishers turned out in Tuam, Limerick and all along the route from Malin to Mizen Head cheering Conor O’Dea and his cycling crew over the finish line.

Tuam native Conor took on the massive challenge to help raise funds for Down Syndrome Ireland and Challenged Athletes Foundation - two charities close to his heart.

He was joined all the way on the five-day journey by two of his brothers, Padraic and Jimmy, his sister Iarlagh and cousin Padraig. The team left Malin Head on June 12 and arrived on target at Mizen Head on June 16.

Speaking to The Tuam Herald, Conor said seeing the turnout in Tuam, on day three, was “incredible” and very emotional for him and his siblings.

“I’m absolutely delighted. It was a good five days and great fun. Tuam was fantastic,” said Conor, who suffered a serious spinal injury in an accident some years ago…
