Loss of two teens in Headford crash numbs community

HEADFORD is heartbroken. The loss of two local teenagers in an early morning crash just outside the town on Monday has left the community bereft, in disbelief and numb.

The devastating single-vehicle crash at Ballyfruit resulted in the death of two teenagers — 14-year-olds Kirsty Bohan, Headford, and Lukas Joyce, Annaghdown — while two of their friends who suffered injuries are in University Hospital Galway.

The girl (14) remains in a serious condition in ICU while the boy (13) is understood to be stable.

Candles flickered on tables as friends and classmates of the teenagers gathered at Presentation College Headford yesterday (Tuesday) where they were offered counselling support and shared their grief.

People have been placing floral tributes at the crash site off the Shrule Road at Glennagarraun in the Ballyfruit area of Headford…
