Corofin landowners ‘doubting’ wind farm are offered support

LANDOWNERS who have changed their minds about offering lands for the development of a controversial windfarm in North Galway are being offered support to withdraw from agreements.

A second public meeting was held by the Laurclavagh Windfarm Action Group last Thursday evening in Belclare, to inform residents of the implications of the proposed development. Nine turbines, reaching 185m tall are planned for a site off the N83, 9km from Tuam through the Laurclavagh Renewable Energy Development.

A planning application for the development, which is being proposed by Enerco Energy, a Cork-based energy company, is due to be lodged in the coming months.
